ACSUR´s MISSION

The Association for Cooperation with the South-Las Segovias (La Asociación para la Cooperación con el Sur- Las Segovias), or ACSUR, is a non-governmental organization (NGO) for development. We began our first project in 1986 in the region of Las Segovias in the north of Nicaragua (it is also the region from which our logo comes).

Recently we have developed 93 cooperation projects in Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, and Palestine. We dedicate special attention to women´s organizations, to the defense of human rights, and to production in agriculture and ranching. Last, but definitely not least, every day we dedicate more force towards solidarity education and awareness in our country.

ACSUR-Las Segovias continues the construction from solidarity with the help of other NGOs and social organizations, through transparent, internal, and participative debate. To this end, ACSUR participates in numerous associative webs. In Catalunya, we form part of Cooperacció, and in Navarre, part of Mugarik Gabe, along with representations in Asturias, Valencia, Murcia, Castille, Baleares, and Madrid. We also have offices in El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Haiti, Peru, Cuba, and Palestine, from which we negotiate all contract work with counterparts, accompaniments, followings, and management of field projects. In Europe, we are founders and coordinators of GRUPO SUR, consort of nine Non-governmental Organizations for Development in the Spanish State, Belgium, Italy, France, and Greece. We form part of the Coordination of NGOs and of the Advisement for the Cooperation for Development.

At the internal level, the association has seven areas of work: Direction, Projects, Awareness and Communication, Education for Development, Immigration, Mediterranean and Administration, from which we negotiate the organization´s actions, the communication with representations in Spain and with the offices in the field, and work in different political platforms (at the national and international level),...and definitely the day by day work of the organization.
